Here's a brief history of experience

    • Gen-i
    • During this two year assignment, Stephen has been providing senior project management for several internal service management projects and for several Gen-i client programmes including the Corrections self-service project and the Corrections Exchange 2010 upgrade project.
    • Department of Internal Affairs
    • During this assignment, Stephen provided technical project management for the GSN Decomissioning Project and the Secure Email Project.  Stephen managed the staged decommission of live GSN services being provided to agencies, and the sale of the assets back to the state sector. The project was delivered early and under budget allowing an early transition to the new ONE.govt service provider to happen.  The Secure Email project was initiated when GTS realised that the SEEMail service needed a refresh after the exit from the GSN. Stephen managed the project from initiation, planning and business case development, through execution.
    • State Services Commission
    • During this 3 year assignment, Stephen provided technical project management within a huge programme, his main responsibilities included the management, deployment and integration testing of a very large network infrastructure with over 200 major devices and networks, sourced from a dozen infrastructure & network service providers, installed into four geographically diverse data centres. Once deployed his responsibilities were focused on the development and management of integration and product test scenarios to ensure the seamless integration of all components.
    • TechTonics
    • Spent many years working as a Senior Network Consultant on a variety of major client assignments until promoted to the consultancy team leader for infrastructure services - an excellent team of younger and older IT professionals. Helped to develop internal processes & systems and introduce good practice within the team for support of their Microsoft and Cisco clients, including building relationships and partnerships with suppliers.
    • Environmental Science & Research (ESR)
    • A short-term TechTonics client assignment providing architecture guidance and mentoring for their IT team, assisting them with the upgrade of their Microsoft Server and Microsoft Exchange server infrastructure for 200 staff at 3 main locations, then designing their new computer room to house their new and expanding IT services.
    • Fonterra
    • Life in New Zealand began with Fonterra in 1999. Stephen spent many years consulting to Fonterra through TechTonics, leading many of their infrastructure projects - starting out on your typical Y2K project. Stephen’s role at Fonterra evolved to include practically every aspect of their IT infrastructure; significant projects include the implementation of a core Ethernet network and migration of 600+ staff, introduction of an Enterprise backup and anti-virus solution, the packaging of nearly 100 Citrix applications, refurbishment of their Wellington data centre and eventual relocation to Hamilton. Stephen’s last role at Fonterra was in 2004 as one of the project managers for their Global SAP rollout.
    • Fujitsu/ICL
    • Before 1999, Stephen was based in England, working for the IT services agency of the Central Government. Initially a member of the testing team, writing and running test scripts, he progressed onto the architecture team, where his main responsibilities included solution design, panel contract management, and deployment coordinator for a number of Unix based system and application solutions that integrated with the 60+ Mainframes that hosted the UK’s National databases. The agency was later outsourced and continued to operate as a division of Fujitsu/ICL.
